Kip Stephen Thorne (rođen 1. juna, 1940.) je američki teorijski fizičar poznat po svojim doprinosima u gravitacijskoj fizici i astrofizici. Zajedno sa Rainerom Weissom i Barryjem C. Barishom, dobio je Nobelovu nagradu za fiziku 2017. za svoj doprinos LIGO detektoru i posmatranju gravitacionih talasa.[3][4][5][6]
Dugogodišnji prijatelj i kolega Stephena Hawkinga i Carla Sagana, bio je Richard P. Feynman profesor teorijske fizike na Kalifornijskom institutu za tehnologiju (Caltech) do 2009.[7] i govorio je o astrofizičkim implikacijama opće teorije relativnosti. Nastavlja se baviti naučnim istraživanjem i naučnim savjetovanjem, posebno za film Christophera Nolana Interstellar.[8][9]
