<p>Global warming impacts are known as increasing in rainfall magnitude and frequen... more <p>Global warming impacts are known as increasing in rainfall magnitude and frequency that lead to more intense and frequent river flooding. In recent years, there is an upward trend of floods in West African regions. As result, many countries like Togo and Benin have had catastrophic floods that affected thousands of people with loss of lives, damages, and properties. Mono catchment is indeed subject to flooding due to anthropogenic and natural climate changes impacts. This study aims to predict streamflow for the period between 1990 and 2020 using hydrological modeling at gauge stations; to analyze flood frequency and magnitudes over the Mono catchment for the historical period through an investigation of hydroclimate indices. Moreover, projected changes in floods hydroclimate indices in the catchment under representative concentration pathway (RCP) from a multi-model ensemble model are investigated. The results show that hydrological modeling reproduces seasonal streamflow with acceptable performance with Kling-Gupta Efficiency (KGE) and percent over calibration and validation periods. Finally, an upward flood frequency and magnitude are observed both for historical and future periods. The outcomes of this study suggest an urgent need to improve the functionality of early warning systems and increase societal resilience to warming climates over the catchment through sustainable policy strategies and governance measures.</p><p><strong>Keywords</strong>: Flood Frequency and magnitude, Flood forecasting, Mono catchment, Togo-Benin</p>

In the present study, we have employed the Gibbs-Martin (GM) diversification index in order to determine the diversification in rapidly urbanizing Ranchi city, capital of Jharkhand state, India, considering both the area and patch dimension of the different land use and land covers present in the area. Comparative analysis of the area and patch based GM index shows significant difference in the magnitude and pattern of the GM index scores determined for the 30 successive spatial buffers of 100m interval delineated around the major roads in the study area. The land use and land covers were mapped from the Landsat ETM data of 2013. This study demonstrated the efficacy of remote sensing technology, GIS and AHP-TOPSIS model to qu... more This study demonstrated the efficacy of remote sensing technology, GIS and AHP-TOPSIS model to quantify vulnerability of different segments of urban landscape to land use transformation. Six different factors such as Accommodating Index (AI), Mean Heterogeneity Index (MHI), Landscape Shape Index (LSI), Division Index (DI), Cohesion Index (CI), and Distance (D) were identified as inputs to the AHP-TOPSIS model. The Landsat 8 satellite data was classified using supervised classification to determine the aforementioned factors. The influencing factors may have varying intensity in triggering land use conversion. Therefore, the relative importance of the aforementioned factors was quantified using AHP. Furthermore the influence of factors can be either positive or negative on the phenomenon. Thus, Technique of Order of Preference for Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) was employed in the present study. The results succeeded in handling the varying characteristics of the variables, and are very close to the actual field-scenario.
