Hi.
Due to the roots and shade from 2 mature maple trees, neither grass nor Japanese Spurge longer grows well in the boulevard between the street and sidewalk on my St. Paul property. The options I see are perhaps Creeping Myrtle (Vinca) or hostas. The areas directly under the trees are especially problematic, as the tree roots seem to take the moisture and nutrients. Any ideas for hearty boulevard plants that are a ground cover or short plant? Also, when is it too late this fall to plant the items in the boulevard?
