Scope of Work
OpenStack Bare Metal Servers, Design and Implementation
Project Overview
Leveraging OpenStack’s open-source cloud infrastructure software is a core tenet of our company, however, in the current landscape, it is not the most documented software, and there is no straight-forward path in most cases, so we need to carve our own.
The scope of this project is to establish an operational model for Gozunga to provide Bare Metal servers using OpenStack’s Ironic & Neutron software, bolting on to our existing vm-based offering. We aim to add bare metal capabilities to facilitate a homogenous environment for users to leverage the right resource for the job using the same API/interface, while providing consistent performance and sensible network segmentation.
Project Stages
Initial Discovery – Assess the business objectives and the current infrastructure topology to determine priorities.Hold discussions to evaluate
Develop basic standard operating procedures for supporting the lifecycle of bare metal machines while providing comprehensive networking
Determine project implementation phases to allow basic use now, and chart out more sophisticated features on the project road map
Provide a cursory security assessment of the installed infrastructure design to ensure protection and stability
Guide stakeholders through implementation to enable bare metal services, and updating operational documentation
