Across the country, more and more school districts are converting to integrated pest
management (IPM). When a school has an active IPM program, children, teachers and
school personnel are exposed to fewer toxic pesticide sprays.
The BIRC publication IPM for Schools
has information about how to make the
conversion. Included in the 19 chapters are specific IPM programs for ants,
cockroaches, clothes moths, carpet beetles, fleas, flies, headlice, rats, mice, scorpions,
silverfish, spiders, and yellowjackets.
Also included are IPM techniques for weeds, trees, shrubs, lawns and turf.
The 250-page manual comes with an additional 52-page Directory
which has
suppliers listed for more than 2000 least-toxic pest control
products. Click on the Directory
of Least-toxic Pest Control Products to view this publication.
You can order with a credit card by calling 510/524-2567 or you can send a
check to BIRC, PO Box 7414, Berkeley, CA 94707. The $50 publication
includes shipping by first class mail.
As a public service, we are making "IPM for Turfgrass,"
which is part of the
manual, available on our website.
See Integrated Pest Management
(IPM) for further information on IPM.
